Unorganisedness

My Internet connection went down a couple of days ago. Being a geek, this is a major hit on my lifestyle: no email, no blogging, no writing online, no bank info, nothing. I live and breathe online most of the time, so when it goes away I'm reduced to a useless, quivering mass of cold custard.
However, losing my connection also made me realise something - how disorganised I am. Whenever people talk about freelance writing online, one thing they always mention is the need to be organised: to set yourself work time, time to think, time to mull over ideas, time for proofreading and so on. In the last two days I've floundered horribly on this front and it has opened my eyes.
Our local library has PCs with connections, of course, and I maintain a yearly subscription there since it's cheap and covers me for periods when I lose the home connection. Did I go in and pick up email? Did I finish my big article and post it from there? Did I blog? No. I played games, ate too much, watched films (including the brilliant Mystery Men, above!) and bummed around.
Lesson learned: you won't make any money or advance as a writer if you are busy shooting Nazis in computer games. Get organised. Focus. Stick with it.
