Problogger's 'Better Blog' Project

Problogger is considered the site for people wishing to make a business of blogging. The guy who built it did just that - quite unexpectedly, at first - and continues to make a success of his online business. There's a book, there are talks and conventions and there's free advice online in his blog.

Personally, I think Problogger's a pretty dull site. Don't get me wrong - it's a brilliant resource, a wonderful never-ending fountain of ideas and business acumen. I'm just not that into the whole business thing, so I find it gets tedious pretty quickly.

This month, though, they're running a 31-day "Better Blog" project. Every day, they send an email to subscribed bloggers with a task to perform on their blog. Not only that, but they explain why the change makes your blog better and the ideas behind the concept.

They're still taking sign-ups if you're interested. It is, of course, free.

You can subscribe here: 31 Days to Build a Better Blog.

The first four tasks can be found here, so you can catch up: One, Two, Three and Four.

Thanks to Simone for making me aware of it!

Spike

I have been to problogger before (I think Chris had a post that recommended it). I found the same as you. This project looks worthwhile though and I have signed up.

Thanks!

Hi Janet. The Problogger book is actually really good - the two guys who wrote it seem very normal and quite modest. I just can't handle the constant stream of business talk, so I visit occasionally rather than subscribing. For people wanting to earn as a blogger, it's definitely the best source, though - he started from scratch and learnt as he went along.

Spike, I agree - the whole problogger thing is a little dull. Plus, you end up with bloggers that all have the same formula, asking the same questions, delivering the same style of info. Where's the personality?

Exactly. Couldn't have said it better. Still a darned fine resource, of course! The thing that does amaze me is how he rarely repeats himself: given how long Problogger's been running, that's impressive.
