Attention Writers!

News today on three items that could be useful for budding writers. First off, the Helium Marketplace has picked up nicely after a slow start to the year: there's quite a batch of titles available at the moment for the journalists among us. They still have their $1 bonus running if you're the first person to write to a title, too.
Secondly, there's been a distinct increase in the number of opportunities for new authors at GetAFreelancer. Quite a few publishers are even specifically asking for debutante writers rather than the established crowd. To find them, the best bet is to do a search in their Copywriting category for the word "Freshers": most of the work of this kind has that keyword in the title. Move fast, as they tend to fill up and close quite quickly.
Finally, I noticed an incredible opening at Technorati. They're looking for people to write tag descriptions and blurbs: the former are the short, two-paragraph definitions of what a tag means (for example "video games" or "health") and the latter are additional bits of info on the same subject, including links and stuff. So why is this a big deal? Because they will put your byline and site link on the description. That means a HUGE amount of publicity for you and your blog. I don't even dare imagine how many submissions they'll get, so it's probably a good idea to rush over there right now. The blog entry with details is here.
Good luck and happy writing!
